Is everyone else doing it? It’s probably a bad idea.
A few emails have come in asking about Facebook, Twitter and increasing your net social capital on the Internet. The solution? Delete. If it’s not helping you get laid or not getting you paid. Stop. There are very few people who receive clout from connecting on the internet via Facebook, lets take a deeper look at the issues with having a profile that seem to come up continuously.
What If She Asks for My Facebook? Get stronger game. When a girl asks you for your Facebook she is either 1) looking at you as a long-term partner which means you’re not all that attractive to her or 2) she wants to vet you out. Trapped. The only people who should be asking you for a Facebook account are friends of friends purely as a courtesy. In which you should respond “Don’t have one”.
How Do I Keep In Contact With My Friends? Yeah okay bro you got 200+ “friends” on the internet who really care about your recent trip to the burger joint and the upload of your green garden burger with “extra guac”. Get a grip. At the end of the day the people near and dear to you are a single phone call away, a single email or a single text message.
How Do I Stay Up to Date on Events? Get a feed if you must but at the end of the day you should be too busy to keep up with the Kardashians. Events on Facebook are certainly not going to be filled to the brim with knockout dime pieces either, so best to hit the ground stop making excuses and find the right spots yourself.
How Do I Stalk/Keep Up With the Cute Girls I Know? This is another easy one, unless you’re having sex with her why do you need to keep up. Go outside to the mall and you’ll find some cute girls immediately. You don’t need to force social status to get girls, roll solo dolo and you’ll be fine.
How Do I Find Better Jobs? Linked-in. That’s the only legitimate network you should be a part of. In fact this is yet another reason to delete your Facebook account, the worst thing that could happen is one bad photo gets loaded up on the web. You get tagged. Game over to your career.
How Do I Prevent Guys and Girls From Wrecking My Social Value? Again, another reason to hit delete. If you hold with extreme confidence your lack of desire for Facebook and any sort of “look how cool my life is” interactions that is another level of confidence. You should be autonomous and unwavering a group of “friends” should have zero impact on your net social worth. People should be clamoring for your attention, you should not be clamoring for their approval.
The above should answer the majority of questions on why you should not be dealing with a webpage that spills out your life story. An interesting man does not show all of his cards up front and does not need to inform the world on his life activities 24/7. The roles should be reversed. Both men and women, should want to dig into your life because they know you’re holding out on them.

Hell. Yes. Not only is it a good move, deleting Facebook is a hell of a time saver too. I haven’t had a Facebook account for six months now and I find myself being way more productive. I also used to get angry at the retarded shit “friends” would post and think “Why am I associated with these idiots?” Now I’m not. Liberating.
Nice, most people have a hard time holding that frame up.
Definitely a major time suck, you lose focus of what matters by looking at the fake image people portray on their individual profiles.
No girl is “checking in” to a breakfast joint at 9am after a ONS.
I re-joined Facebook after a year out due to all the connections I met in America. I agree with your post but would recommend people have an account, keep the privacy tight, and use it only to add those who are advantageous to your goals.
Maybe you have some groupie set up that’s awesome bro. Linked in is all that’s needed on the professional side for a usual financier.
If biz contacts care if you have a Facebook, those are some bad contacts. Even the top 10 shareholders, the guys pulling the trigger, don’t even have facebook and they are loaded up. Ha.
That’s true. This was in regarding to traveling, not as business contacts. I doubt any shareholders have time to scroll through feeds of disgruntled cats and endless farmville updates
I work from home online and facebook is crazy time waster
Used to login to check messages then before you know it your browsing holiday photos of that kid you hated at school
But somehow you’re friends on facebook with him like the other couple hundred people you dont care about in your friends list
Women love facebook because there are attention whores and love knowing other peoples business
6 months ago i deleted my account its the best thing i ever did so much more time for working or actually going outside meeting people
The only thing i find funny is when people say what’s your facebook i’ll add you
When they hear you say im not on facebook most find it strange like your some kind of nut case
Whilst the internet is great i find it has made people so unsocialble now everyone sitting on the phones stalking people on facebook instead talking to the people there with next time your in a bar, coffee shop or anywhere look at everyone its actually funny
awesome blog by the way
Yep. Hiding behind a screen to keep up with the 200+ dorks posting on a 7’s wall does nothing but hurt your social skills.
It’s not real confident to upload the perfect images of your life.
Meh, facebook is still useful for me as IM & communication platform, especially for us nomadic types who make a group of friends here, a group of friends there as we hop around the world. I just want everything that is more than two weeks old to just die in a fire, and nobody but stalkers looks at stuff more than two weeks old anyway. There are greasemonkey scripts that do that, but they are unreliable. Facebook is not a time waster for me otherwise.
Didn’t see this comment before my first one, but yep, my thoughts exactly. Americans use FB far too much for people who barely move over the course of their lives. What are you going to do without FB? E-mail all your friends? Send a postcard? Call them? Both waste far more time. FB lets you throw out a line or funny picture quickly every once in a while so that neither of you forget each other and otherwise maintain a good relationship, so that you can cash in on it IRL when you meet each other again and one of you needs a place to stay, VIP area in the local club, a connection for this or that, etc. etc.
For those of us not living in larger cities facebook is important. My city has close to 200k people but i still feel like it’s a small place(most people living in suburbs)like everywhere i go i meet people i know and hitting on every decent woman i see is not really an option.I denied it for a long time but facebook is one of the best ways to increase your social value(or decrease it for that matter, you must know how to play it).
Move cities, follow the money.
Reminds me of the time I had a one-nighter ask me for my FB profile at 2:05 a.m.. on my cell to show I’m not a psychopath/con artist. Told her I was both, and she giggled her way into the cab. Game wins.
new to the site, found your stuff by way of D&P.
I’m liking it.
Facebook has become a blip on the wall, but what really took over and killed productive time is reddit.
and not shitty cat facts and pictures
i mean places like r/foodforthought and r/depthhub, r/askhistorians.
the former having a lot of articles that challenge the status quo and commonly accepted thinking.
the latter often being about the rise and fall of great civilisations
not sure what you’re thoughts on zero hedge are
that shit is addicting
A very good article, facebook, instagram and all other social networking sites are all weesh, with the exception of Twitter & LinkedIn. Twitter allows you to follow news and you can get quick updates but too many “average” people are turning it weesh! I don’t get why people have conversations on these sites anyway? Average Joe’s spend a months paycheck on an iPhone and they don’t even use the main communications features for which it exists! What’s with that?!
